What Is the Best Time of Day for a Boat Tour?

Most of our guests ask which month is best, but the time of day matters just as much. On the Antalya coast the sea, the light and the temperature change a lot between morning and evening, and each part of the day suits a different kind of trip.

Morning: calm sea, clear water

The sea is usually at its calmest in the morning, before the afternoon breeze picks up. That is why our full-day trips, such as the Suluada tour and the Porto Ceneviz tour, leave Adrasan in the morning. The water is clear, the light is soft and the bays are still quiet.

Midday and afternoon: warm water, bright colours

Around midday the sun is high and the shallow water at Suluada turns its famous turquoise. It is also the warmest time for swimming. Sun protection matters most now: a hat, sun cream and a shaded seat on deck between swims. The pirate boat and the Relax tour spend this part of the day swimming and eating lunch on board.

Wind is the main thing that changes during the day. On many summer afternoons a sea breeze picks up from the west, which can make the water a little choppier on open stretches. Captains plan the route with this in mind, choosing sheltered bays for the later stops.

Evening: the sunset trip

In the evening the heat drops, the mountains turn pink and the sea often calms again. The sunset boat tour is made for this time, with dinner and a last swim as the light fades. It is especially popular with couples.
