Sığla Canyon Boat Tour

A green, quiet day away from the coast

If you have had enough of beaches for a day, the Sığla Canyon tour is a good change of scene. The canyon is a protected area known for its sweetgum trees (sığla in Turkish), whose fragrant resin has been used for centuries. The water is calm and green, the air is cool, and the day combines a boat trip, a riverside lunch, a mountain viewpoint and a cave.

Transfer

We pick you up from your hotel in Antalya and drive through the countryside towards the canyon. The guide explains the programme on the way.

The boat trip

At 10:00 the boat leaves for a trip of about two hours through the canyon. You glide between steep, wooded slopes, and the sweetgum trees are reflected in the water. There are stops to swim in the clearest parts of the river.

Lunch by the river

At around 12:00 we stop at a riverside restaurant. You can choose fresh trout or grilled chicken, served with seasonal salads.

Bayraklı Hill viewpoint

After lunch we drive up to the viewpoint on Bayraklı Hill, at 1,080 metres. From here you look out over mountains and lakes, and on a clear day the view stretches a long way.

Karataş Cave

The last stop is Karataş Cave, also called St Paul's Cave, with stalactites and stalagmites formed over a very long time. Bring a light jacket; it is cool inside.

Return

We set off back to Antalya at around 16:00.
